Wayfarers came onto the scene in 1956.
In 1981 they were on the verge of being discontinued with only 18,000 pairs sold.
However, in 1983 with the help of Tom Cruise's stamp of approval in Risky Business, 360,000 wayfarers were sold and today they are said to be one of the most enduring fashion icons of the 20th century.
