Harlem Beauty

These pictures make my heart swell. They are beautiful in every sense of the word.

Thinking about Harlem in the 1960's evokes so many images; however, these are unexpected.

This particular ball was held at Harlem's Rockland Palace Ballroom and was the first to be held there.

I really love the fact that a debutante ball is basically a formal occasion to say "why hello there" to the eligible bachelors of the community while resembling a bride.

P.S Harlem is named after the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands.
