Dashrath Majhi, also known as the Mountain Man.
Living in a rural village, Dashrath lost his beloved wife to illness when they were unable to get to the nearest hospital which was 70km's away.
Not wanting anyone else to suffer the same fate as his wife, he single-handedly carved a 360-foot-long, 25-foot-high and 30-foot-wide road by cutting through a mountain (!) in the Gehlour hills, working day and night for 22 years from 1960 to 1982.
His feat reduced the distance between the Atri and Wazirganj blocks of the Gaya district from 75 km to 1 km.
WOW I'm speechless this is an amazing story!! Great post!!!
